Butler wins girls golf title

Lady Patriots take second in team category

Brewer’s Rachel Butler shot an 87 to win the Morgan County Girls Golf Tournament at Decatur Country Club Monday afternoon.

Butler’s score helped the Lady Patriots finish second overall in the team category. Autumn Brooks and Reed Sowder posted 114 and 128 respectively to give Brewer a total score of 329.

Austin’s girls team took first place in the team category with an even 300. They were led by third place Callie Herren (92) followed by fifth place winner Kimmie Redler (99), Sandy Taylor (109) and alternate Rebekah Naler (125).

Decatur was third overall behind second-place finisher Katie Morris (91) along with Hayden Shelley (133), Hanna Shelley (134) and alternate Alison Adams (135).

Danville finished fourth with 383. Their top three consisted of Brooke Thomas (127), Vaughn (124) and Lauren Wilson (124) with Kristen Hallmark (132) competing as an alternate.

Summar Hargrove of Falkville, who competed as an individual, posted a 95 to take fourth place overall.

Other individuals competing were Lexie Green from West Morgan (106), Shelley Blankenship from Falkville (124), Paige Robertson from Priceville (125) and Brittney Skinnner from Priceville (134).
