Commissioner questions appointments

The re-appointment of three individuals to four positions on two county boards raised opposition from a commissioner at the Morgan County Commission meeting on Tuesday.
Lawrence Brown, Charles Adams and Daniel Sansing were re-appointed to three-year terms on the Morgan County Personnel Review Board, effective Feb. 27. Likewise, Brown and Adams were re-appointed to four-year terms on the Morgan County Board of Appeals, effective April 8.
The appointments were made by a vote of 3-1 with District 4 Commissioner Stacy George voting in the negative on both motions.
In a separate but related matter, George questioned a request from Sheriff Greg Bartlett for the acknowledgement of his appointment of Sansing to a two-year term on the Morgan County Board of Appeals.
County Attorney Bill Shinn said the appeals board Sansing will serve on is different from the one on which Brown and Adams serve.
George went on to support Sansing’s appointment.
The commission made two other board appointments.
Hazel Anderson was re-appointed to a six-year term on the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama Board, effective March 30 through March 30, 2013. William Fowler was re-appointed to a six-year term on the West Morgan East Lawrence Water and Sewer Authority, effective Feb. 25, 2007, through Feb. 25, 2013.
