Funeral for Francis Collins Brown Jr., 88, of Hartselle was Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Harold Segars and Brady McCullough officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Masonic honors.
Mr. Brown died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at his residence. He was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Cullman County to Francis Collins Brown Sr. and Clara Solon Smith Brown. He was retired from NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville where he worked as an experimental electronics technician. He was a member and deacon of Liberty Baptist Church, a member of the Nunn-Oden Masonic Lodge No. 398, where he was past Worshipful Master, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Stone; three brothers, William, Alonzo and Hiram Brown; and a sister, Frances Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Maddux Brown of Hartselle; two sons, Rickey C. Brown and wife Claire of Memphis, Tenn. and Owen W. Brown and wife Gail of Town Creek; a daughter, Dr. Gayla B. Ashford of Decatur; a son-in-law, Julian Ashford of Hartselle; a brother, James Burns Brown of Falkville; three grandsons, Rocky Stone and Matthew Brown, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Joey Ashford of Decatur; two granddaughters, Beth Brown of Cape Coral, Fla. and Stephanie Brown of Town Creek; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hiram “Sonny” Brown Jr., Kinnie Brown, Jerry Brown, Victor Brown, Jesse Owens and Chuck Wilhite.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Nunn-Oden Masonic Lodge in Hartselle.
