Hartselle varsity football coach Bob Godsey's team will participate in its first full practices this week as the spring practice schedule begins.
Last week, Godsey and his staff had a few practices with the rising freshmen and sophomores, but beginning last Monday the entire team participated in practices.
The team will practice Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week; Monday through Friday next week and Monday through Thursday in the third week. Spring practice will culminate with a jamboree game on the road at Spain Park May 12.
Godsey said the team will practice in full pads for all the spring practices, except for the Thursday before the spring game. He added that several players are still participating in spring sports but will join the rest of the team once their spring sports are completed.
Godsey also released the upcoming schedule for the 2006 season. The Tigers will open at Ogle Stadium in Decatur against Austin Thursday, Aug. 31, then jump into region play with a game against Decatur Sept. 8 at J.P. Cain Stadium.
Of note, the Sept. 29 game against Cullman is a non-region game this season, after re-alignment moved Cullman into Region 6. Hartselle's other non-region games are against Austin and Class 6A Huntsville.
The full schedule is as follows:
Aug. 24: Hazel Green at Hartselle (jamboree game)
Aug. 31: Hartselle at Austin (Ogle Stadium; non-region game)
Sept. 8: Decatur at Hartselle (region game)
Sept. 15: Hartselle at Russellville (region game)
Sept. 22: Muscle Shoals at Hartselle (region game)
