Ward wins weekly honor
UAB junior third baseman and former Hartselle star Zac Ward was one of two players named player of the week in Conference USA for the week of March 5-12.
Ward had a monster week for the Blazers, going 13-for-21 with 10 RBIs during a five game span. The week kicked off in grand fashion, as Ward nailed a game-winning single in a 3-2 UAB win over Birmingham Southern in 13 innings on Tuesday.
His bat continued to sizzle, as he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs on Wednesday, keying the Blazers to a 9-8 win over Georgia State.
Ward is having his best season as a Blazer, leading the team in batting average, RBIs, home runs and hits.
