Hartselle's A.J. McNutt placed in the quarterfinals of the two-day Austin High School Tennis tournament last weekend, before falling to West Point's David Pilgrim.
As a team, Hartselle finished 13th with 14 points in the 21-team tournament.
McNutt, who played at No. 4 singles, received a bye in the first round of the event and defeated Chris Harlow in the second round.
He lost to Pilgrim in the quarterfinals, but was still Hartselle's most successful singles player at the Austin tournament.
In doubles, the Hartselle pairing of Anthony Penick and Keeton Light made the final eight.
The Austin High girls tournament will be this coming Friday and Saturday at T.C. Almon and Delano Park in Decatur.
Eighteen teams will participate in the event.
