Hartselle sectionals meet, Jan. 27-28, at Huntsville High
HHS boosters to hold chili dinner
The Hartselle Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring a chili supper Jan. 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. It will be held in the high school cafeteria before the varsity basketball games and all proceeds will go toward Hartselle sports programs.
Tickets are $5 for dine-in only, all-you-can-eat, and $15 per gallon for take-out orders.
Danville-Neel students excel
Four students from Danville-Neel Elementary School placed at the lodge level of the Elks Club National Free Throw Contest Saturday.
In the nine-and-under category, Andrea Carter placed first and Kyle Alexander was third. In the 11-and-under group, Sloan Lindsey finished first and Patrick Doherty was third.
Carter and Lindsey qualified for participation at the regional level.
Hartselle JV wrestling update
The Tigers participated at the Grissom JV Invitational Saturday. Steven Hames won the heavyweight division. Other finishers were Chase Overton (105-pound class), Tyler Hill (127), Kenneth Sammons (154), Wes Pevahouse (191) and Garrett Baldwin (heavyweight) all were second place in their divisions; Kyle Lybarger (97) and David Filiatrault (137) were third place; Dominique Billups (87), Alan Durham (105), Brandon Kent (167) and Joseph Martin (191) were all fourth-place finishers.
Monday, the Tigers competed in the Bob Jones Invitational. Baldwin finished in second place and Billups and Sammons were both fourth-place finishers.
Clarification
Due to an editing error, the picture of Hartselle's seventh-grade girls basketball team in the Jan. 12 issue was missing two names in the caption. The Enquirer regrets the error and is happy to set the record straight.
