The Tigers picked up their second win of the season Friday night, and also won their first area game and first road contest with a victory over Russellville.
"On film we noticed that they weren't really tall. We were able to get the ball in the paint where Jackson (Holmes) was able to have a good night," Hartselle coach Johnny Berry said.
"Our defense was great. We made them shoot from further back and really did a good job of making them feel uncomfortable. Their leading scorer (Cory Trapp) came in averaging about 23 points and we held him to just 13."
Hartselle (2-17, 1-3) shot 18-of-32 from the field, compared to 15-of-47 for Russellville. Holmes led the way for the Tigers with 19 points and Victor Stansberry added 10.
Trapp scored 13 points to lead Russellville.
