Staff Reports, Hartselle Enquirer
The Hartselle High School color guard and majorettes were awarded "Best in Class" at the recent Dixie Pride Classic Festival, hosted by West Morgan High School.
Countless hours of practice were rewarded for the HHS Marching Band when both auxiliaries edged out four bands, including Decatur and Florence high schools, for the Division AAA honor.
Guard captains are Meagan Hoff, Katherine Puckett and Ashley Wright. Anna Vaughn is majorette captain.
All divisions of the band earned "Superior" ratings of one. Overall, the band placed second in Division AAA–a fraction of a point behind Decatur High.
The band will perform its show pre-game Friday at homecoming and in the exhibition Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:45 p.m. as hosts of the Southern Hospitality Marching Festival, where 33 bands from Alabama and Tennessee are scheduled to compete in four classes.
The University of North Alabama Marching Band, featured guests at the festival, is scheduled to perform at 3:45 p.m. HHS graduates Courtney White and Brittany Grammar are members of the UNA Color Guard.
