Funeral for Roger Moody Chapman, 89, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with Dr. Jeff Redmond and the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Chapman died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 14, 1916, in Coffee County to Andrew Melvin Chapman and Lula Moore Chapman. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a graduate of Auburn University and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Chapman was retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Hartselle.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Windham Chapman of Hartselle; a son, Roger Morgan Chapman and wife Amy Wood Chapman, a grandson, Tyler Morgan Chapman and a granddaughter, Caroline Kristin Chapman, all of Brewton.
Pallbearers will be David Perdew, Joe Howell, Jimmy Little, Mike Black, Bob Wesson and Bill Russell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Boster, Tom Drinkard, Dewel Lott, Steve Johnson, Paul Downs, Hamil Lawrence, Jerry Rooks, Claude Brown and Joe Shands.
