Morgan County Commission Notes

• Approved payment of $429,776.29 to Meadowbrook Insurance Group for a Workers Compensation premium, effective Oct. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30, 2012.

• Approved payment of $6,072 to Harris, Caddell & Shanks P.C. for legal services performed in August, 2011.

• Approved payment of $180 to King Insurance Agency for notary bond renewals for Sylvia Tucker, Denise Iovina and Angela McCutcheon in the Morgan County Probate Office, effective Oct. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30, 2012.

• Authorized the proceeds from the sale of various computer equipment from the Morgan County Probate Office previously approved on Aug. 23, 2011, to be returned to the Probate Judge’s Special Fund.

• Approved the replacement of Morgan County’s voting machines with M100 Optical Scanner voting machines and authorized the preparation of the necessary documents to preclear the replacement of the machines with the U.S. Department of Justice.

• Approved payment of $680 to King Insurance Agency for commercial crime coverage for Amanda Scott, Morgan County Revenue Commissioner, effective Oct. 1, 2011 through Sept. 30, 2012.

• Authorized the funding and payment from the reappraisal budget of the amount difference between the Alabama Department of Revenue appropriation and $1,200 annual Professional Achievement Award as provided for eligible recipients under state law.

• Approved payment of $500 to the Association of Alabama Tax Administrators for annual dues for Sue Baker Roan, Morgan County Commissioner of Licenses, effective Oct. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30, 2012.

• Authorized the chairman to execute a two-year lease renewal agreement with Gateway Commercial brokerage Inc. for office space at Crestwood Shopping Center in Hartselle for Morgan County commissioner of licenses and revenue offices, effective Nov. 1, 2011 through Oct. 31, 2013, at a rate of $655.63 per month.

• Authorized payment of $1,000 to the Walking Horse Association of Alabama, payable out of the Tourism, Recreation & Convention Fund.

• Approved payment of $50 top S.S. Nesbitt & Co. for a notary bond renewal for Rita Weeks in the Emergency Management Agency office, effective Sept. 9, 2011,through Sept. 8, 2012.

• Approved the assignment of the agreement from Southern Monitoring Systems for electronic monitors for children supervised by the Morgan County Juvenile Probation office to Tracking Solutions, effective Sept. 1, 2011.

• Adopted a resolution implementing a fund balance reporting policy in compliance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement 54, effective beginning with the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

• Authorized the chairman to transfer $81,732.54 from the Fiduciary Fund to the General Fund for amounts which have been on deposit for more than 10 years in compliance with state law.

• Approved the appointment of Billy Rhodes to the Rural Morgan County Industrial Development Board to fill a six-year term, effective Sept. 27, 2011, through Sept. 26, 2017.

• Approved certificates to subdivide and/or consolidate for Reaphel D. and Martha A. Graham, Thompson Hollow Rd., District 3, and Donald Ray Rolfe and James H. and Patty Childers, Dewey Day Rd. E and Upper River Rd, Hwy 36, East, in District 3.

• Approved 21 budget amendments.

• Designated October, 2011, as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

• Designated the week of Sept. 27, 2011, as Minority Enterprise Development Week.
