Recycled cheese glasses make good spice containers

Tuna Salad

1 can of tuna

2 tsp. mayonnaise

1 or 2 sliced sweet pickles

or sweet relish

1 or 2 boiled eggs

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Tuna can be served as a salad or used in a sandwich.

Root Beer Float

1 bottle of root beer

1 cup of vanilla ice cream

1 banana sliced

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and stir. Serve in glasses.

Grape Butter

1 small pkg. of cream

cheese

1/2 cup of grape jelly

Soften cream cheese and stir into grape jelly until well blended. Serve on crackers or use to make a sandwich.

Fried Apples

5 or 6 apples

Cooking oil

Wash and peel apples and slice. Fry in frying pan with cooking oil until done. Serve with cooked sausage patties.

Hints of the Week

Recycle glasses that pimento cheese spread comes in. Use these to put spices into and label contents.

Save bottle caps from cola drinks and use them to cut cheese to serve with crackers.

Swiss Steak

2 tsp. flour

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 lbs. round steak, one inch thick

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper

1 cup canned tomatoes

Combine flour and seasonings, pound into steak on both sides. Cut steak into pieces. Put cooking oil in skillet, brown on both sides. Combine remaining ingredients and place on meat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Makes six servings.

Italian Salad Dressing

1/2 cup Italian tomatoes

1 cup sour cream

Mix well and serve with salads
