A graveside service for Marie Mitchell, 82, of Ponce De Leon, Fla., formerly of Hartselle, was held Wednesday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Long officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, May 2, 2005, at Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in DeFuniak Springs, Fla. She was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Ponce De Leon to Henry and Bertha Davis Truett. She had been a residence of Ponce De Leon for 20 years. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Bridge Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Mitchell; and three brothers, Daniel Truett, McKinnon Truett and J. C. Truett.
She is survived by three sons, George T. Mitchell of Coco, Fla. and Donald C. Mitchell and Kenneth W. Mitchell, both of Ponce De Leon, Fla.; three sisters, Beria Kalein and twin sister Myrtice Barr, both of Chipley, Fla. and Eunice Vik of Seattle, Wash.
