Wanted man from drug bust now in custody

A man connected with a drug bust on Double S Mountain Road in the Hulaco community of Morgan County is now behind bars.

Kerry Dale “Shorty” Humphries, 45, of 117 Hyatt Bottom Road Baileyton was arrested on Wednesday and charged with unlawful manufacturing a controlled substance first degree and unlawful possession of a marijuana first degree. Bond has been set by the circuit judge at $1,002,500.

Other state and federal charges are pending.

On Wednesday, agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force, Decatur Organized Crime Unit, United States Marshals and the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control police were followed leads on the whereabouts Humphries.

It had been 12 days since a methamphetamine lab and marijuana plants were discovered on Double S Mountain Road in the Hulaco Community (Morgan County).  Authorities also located a 5-week-old child at the scene of the crime.

Humphries had been on the run since the incident occurred. Several Morgan County citizens called in information that led officers to an address in Arab, where he was arrested.
