Funeral for Roberta Jane Compton, 90, of Anderson, was Monday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Tommy Andrews, Jerry Lankford and Arvil McGuire officiating.
Burial was in New Salem Cemetery in Limestone County.
Mrs. Compton died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at the residence of her daughter, Doris McGuire. She was born in Morgan County to Tom and Ada Pettit. She worked as a seamstress for Pettit's Cleaners in Hartselle and Gordon Cleaners in Decatur for many years. She was the sister to the late Booth Pettit, Gladys Powell, Marie Williams Bowen and Vernie Dunn.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris McGuire of Anderson; three sisters, Roena Allison of Sylva, N.C., Elva Huskey of Hartselle and Mildred Pack of Athens; three grandchildren, Tim McGuire, Beth Harrison and David McGuire; and eight great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or to the Ghana Mission Fund, Athens, AL.
