Faith focused

By Todd Barrier

In the Bible we are told that our love for God is shown in following His commandments (John 14:15). If this is true, then the opposite is also true. If we don’t follow His commandments, we show a lack of love for Him. Why would we disobey and not follow our creator’s commandments? It comes down to our love for the world overriding our love for God.

The more we are enamored with the world, the less we focus on God. We are warned against loving the world and the things in it (1 John 2:15-17.) We are also reminded that to know God, to love Him to follow His commandments we have to know His Word (1 John 2:3-6.)

It all comes down to where our focus is. If we focus on the world, our love for this place grows and our love for God shrinks. If we focus on things above our love for God and our relationship with Him flourishes. Where is your focus?
