Danville baseball gets area series win over Vinemont

The Danville Hawks bounced back from a 6-2 loss in game one of their area series with Vinemont with two wins in their doubleheader with the Eagles this past Thursday. The series win gives Danville a good chance at reaching the playoffs.

Game one: Vinemont 6, Danville 2

Gage Taylor and Sawyer Tapscott each had three hits in the Hawks’ 6-2 loss to Vinemont. Wesley Sigala had an RBI. Reece Cowart took the loss after pitching 5 1/3 innings and striking out three.

Game two: Danville 12, Vinemont 5

Gage Taylor went 4-for-4 with a homer, double and five RBI to lead Danville to a 12-5 victory over Vinemont. Aiden Holiday and Kade Taylor each had two hits and an RBI. Avery Brewer pitched a complete game to pick up the win.

Game three: Danville 10, Vinemont 5

Gage Taylor had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs in the series finale. Sawyer Tapscott and Cowart each had a hit and two RBIs. Ben Capps picked up the win after pitching 4 1/3 innings of relief.

Holtville 5, Priceville 4

Priceville gave up four runs in the bottom of the seventh in their 5-4 loss to Holtville in a game played at Toyota Field last Thursday. Jackson Prickett singled and had an RBI, while Xander Gaines had two hits. Zack Chaney, Wes Walker and Thomas Kerby each had a hit.

Priceville 11, Decatur Heritage 2

Wes Walker hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in Priceville’s 11-2 win over Decatur Heritage. Tyde Borden picked up the win after striking out eight in six innings.

Fairview 13, Falkville 6

Caden Burnett had three hits and two RBI in Falkville’s 13-6 loss to Fairview. Owen Teague had two hits and two RBI, while Sawyer Reynolds added two hits and an RBI.

Falkville 13, Hatton 12

Falkville clinched their area series win with a 13-12 come-from-behind win over Hatton. Denver Comstock picked up the win in relief of Burnett and Lawson Tew after the Blue Devils scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Burnett was 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored. Teague added two hits and three RBI, while Payton Davis had three hits and two RBI.

Hatton 6, Falkville 4

Burnett and Reynolds each had a hit and two RBI in Falkville’s 6-4 area loss to Hatton.

Falkville 6, Hatton 4

Burnett had three hits, including a home run and two doubles, and had four RBI to lead the Falkville to a 6-4 series-opening win over Hatton. Peyton Davis picked up the win after pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out seven.
