Hartselle Enquirer names all-area softball team

Players of the Year 

The Hartselle Enquirer Players of the Year are Hartselle’s Karsi Lentz and Larissa Preuitt. The two seniors led the Lady Tigers to a 51-9-1 record with an area championship and a trip to the north regionals.  

 Lentz, named the 6A Hitter of the Year, set a school record for home runs with 25 and RBIs with 91. Preuitt, the 2022 Gatorade Player of the Year, set school records for stolen bases with 87, hits with 100, a batting average of .552, runs with 103 and triples with 13. 

 Preuitt will continue her career at the University of Alabama, while Lentz will play at Auburn University – Montgomery. 

 Coach of the Year 

The Hartselle Enquirer Coach of the Year is Brewer’s Braeden Netherton. The first-year coach led her team to an area championship and a return trip to the east-central regionals. Her team finished with a 29-19 record.  

 All-star team 

P: Blayne Godfrey, Hartselle, So.: The sophomore posted a 30-7 record in her first season for the Tigers. She struck out a school-record 347 in 195 innings with a 0.77 ERA. She was a first-team 6A all-state selection. 

 P: Bronwyn Borden, Brewer, Jr.: She was a second-team 5A all-state selection after striking out 289 batters in 194 innings while finishing with a 16-9 record. She currently holds the school record of 648 strikeouts for her career. 

 C: Brityan Godfrey, Hartselle, Fr.: She was a second-team 6A all-state selection after hitting .345 with nine home runs and 53 RBIs. 

 C: Addie Walker, Falkville, Sr.: She was a 2A all-state honorable mention selection after hitting .519 with 16 doubles, 31 RBIs and 34 stolen bases. 

C: Aubrey Reed, Danville, Fr.: She was a 3A honorable mention selection after hitting .434 with 44 RBIs and eight home runs. 

IF: Kaelyn Jones, Hartselle, So.: The second-team 6A all-state selection hit .491 with 85 hits, 79 runs, 61 RBIs, 51 stolen bases, 12 doubles, eight triples, and three home runs. 

IF: Katie Gillott, Hartselle, Fr.: She hit .405 with 60 hits, 42 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. 

IF: Bentley Black, Priceville, Jr.: She was a second-team 4A all-state selection after hitting .427 with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, 32 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. 

IF: Marlee Jones, Brewer, Jr.: She hit .374 with a .483 on-base percentage with 46 hits, 40 runs, 31 RBIs, nine stolen bases and three home runs. 

OF: Brantley Drake, Hartselle, Jr.: She hit .358 with an on-base percentage of .466. She had 51 runs, 48 hits, 30 RBIs, 12 doubles and 31 stolen bases. 

OF: Hanah Tillman, Falkville, Jr.: She hit .467 with 11 doubles, four home runs and 41 RBIs. 

OF: Katee King, Priceville, So.: She hit .413 with 38 hits, 11 doubles and two home runs with 19 RBIs. 

DH: Abby Summerford, Brewer, Fr.: She was a second-team 5A all-state selection after hitting.337 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs. 

DH: Brooklyn Owens, Falkville, Sr.: Owens hit .402 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs.
