Special to the Enquirer

Civil Air Patrol cadets from Hartselle High and Hartselle Junior High school were eager to show the crowd their drill competition skills in recent competition at American Legion Post 15.

The Post holds this annual, highly competitive event for Junior ROTC and Civil Air Patrol units across north Alabama. With Austin, Athens, Brewer, Decatur and Madison County high schools also being represented, the cadets of Hartselle were competing against the best of area schools.

Hartselle CAP fielded 20 cadets for this year’s competition. Hartselle was named winner of the Un-Armed Drill Team competition, the Armed Drill Team competition and, by extension, was named Grand Master winner of the day.

Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Nick Pershin and Cadet Capt. Carter Coan led the Hartselle cadets through the different challenges of the day.
