Danville-Neel Elementary student wins Morgan County Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Danville-Neel Elementary thirdgrader Holt Moore for being the winner of the Morgan County Spelling Bee.  

Holt was the youngest of the three finalists and had some tough competition. Each kindergarten through eight-grade school sent the winner from their local spelling bee to the county-wide competition. Holt now goes on to the statewide spelling bee.  

Holts parents are Justin and Stephanie Moore. Mrs. Moore teaches at Danville-Neel School.  

Falkville High School Announcement 

Special congratulations go to Coach Lacy and the Lady Blue Devils for the most single season wins ischool history, with 23. Congratulations also to Sydnee Fitzgerald on scoring her 1,000th point as a Lady Devil. Makenzie Veal reached the 1,000 mark last year, making this two players on the same team to achieve this mark. Good luck to the Lady Blue Devils for the rest of their season. 

Danville High School ACT Announcement  

The ACT will be given March 9. All juniors must report to campus at 7:45 a.m. This will be a virtual school day for all freshmen, sophomores and seniors.

Carolyn Besnyl and family celebrated their February birthdays Feb. 6 at the Ninja Restaurant in Decatur.

Congratulations to Falkville Elementary School fifthgrader Harper Ward for finishing fourth place in the Morgan County Spelling Bee.
