Falkville little league team wins county championship

Blue Devils finish with 17-0 record after beating Priceville for championship

The Falkville 13 and 14-year old Blue Devils completed a perfect season last Tuesday night, defeating the Priceville A's for the Morgan County Championship at Danville's West Park.
The team finished the season with a 17-0 record.
In the championship tilt, the Blue Devils trailed 4-1 through two innings. In the bottom of the third, however, Falkville scored six runs, due to four walks and four hits.
Falkville stretched its lead to 9-4 in the fourth, but Priceville rebounded with three runs in the sixth. The Blue Devils led 11-7, as Priceville rallied in the final inning with two runs. Relief pitcher Kevin Russell was able to get out of the jam by striking out the final batter with runners on base.
Thomas Holt earned the win, pitching six innings, giving up 11 hits and two walks, while striking out seven.
The team, who played the likes of Brindlee Mountain, Cotaco, Danville, Lacey's Spring and Priceville, is coached by Jeff Holt, Earl Smith and Richie Leathers.
