Prep Basketball Scorebook: Benson and Gann lead Lady Bulldogs to victory over West Limestone

LESTER – Priceville broke open a tight game with a dominating second quarter to get a 70-37 victory over West Limestone.

The Lady Bulldogs led 15-14 after the first. They pulled away with a 38-12 run over the second and third quarters. They led 53-26 after the third quarter.

Priceville (11-8) was led by Zoey Benson, who finished with a game-high 16 points. Olivia Gann added 12 points, Natalie Cartee scored 10, and Abigail Garrison had eight points and five rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs pulled down 33 rebounds and dished out 23 assists. Kylie Hendrix pulled down nine rebounds and Jenna Walker had five assists to lead the team.

West Limestone was led by Carlie Belle Winter’s 15 points.

Priceville hosts Danville in an area game on Tuesday.

Falkville 61, Whitesburg Christian 13: Falkville turned in a dominating performance in their victory over Whitesburg Christian.

The Lady Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-3 first-quarter lead and led 36-5 at the half.

Every player scored for Falkville (12-5) with Makenzie Veal leading the way with 13 points and five rebounds. Ellie Cate Hill added 12 points and five rebounds with Erika Johnson scoring 10. Ella Wallace pulled down eight rebounds.

Whitesburg Christian (1-14) was led by Amelia Blackstone’s five points.

The win was Falkville’s sixth in a row. They will play at St. Bernard on Tuesday night.

Arab 44, Brewer 33: Brewer dropped their first area game of the year as they fell to Arab 44-33.

The Lady Knights led 24-13 at halftime.

Brewer (12-8) was led by Jacie Andrews’ eight points and Leisha Steger’s seven.

Arab (3-15) was led by Elizabeth Brodhage’s game-high 21 points.

Brewer will host Decatur on January 10th.

Boys 

West Limestone 65, Priceville 48: West Limestone jumped out to a 21-4 first-quarter lead and didn’t look back in their victory over Priceville.

Priceville (3-14) was led by Seth Hood, who scored a game-high 20 points. Trey Summers added 14 points.

The Bulldogs connected on nine threes in the game with Summers hitting four and Hood knocking down three.

West Limestone (7-7) was led by Camryn Williams, who scored 19 points.

Priceville will play Danville at home on Tuesday night.

Arab boys 62 Brewer 40: Brewer dropped an area game to visiting Arab.

Brewer (7-12) was led by Kris Bramlett’s 12 points with Conner Hall adding 11.

Arab (13-5) was led by Logan Parker’s game-high 15 points.

Brewer’s next game will be against Decatur on January 10th.
