Lady Tigers host Encore Classic 

The Hartselle Lady Tigers hosted the Encore Classic Nov. 23 and Nov. 26-27 at Hartselle High School. They went 2-1 during the three-day event, with wins over Sparkman and Huntsville and a loss to Ramsay. 

Day One: Ramsay 51, Hartselle 48 

Hartselle opened play in the Encore Classic against Ramsay Saturday evening. 

The Lady Tigers held on to a 38-37 lead at the end of three quarters before being outscored 14-10 in the fourth as Ramsay pulled out the win. 

Hartselle was led by Hailey Holshouser, who finished with 20 points, while Lillyanna Cartee added 12 points. 

Ramsay was led by the trio of Kierra Griffin with 16, McKayla Lumpkin with 12 and Elisa Safford with 10. 

Day Two: Hartselle 40, Sparkman 28 

The Lady Tigers defense held the Sparkman offense to single digits in three of four quarters in Hartselle’s win over the Lady Senators. 

Hartselle was led by Masyn Marchbanks, who finished with 15 points. Kaitlyn Hogan added eight points, while Holshouser and Cartee had seven points each. 

Kennedy Langham scored eight points in the loss for Sparkman. 

Day Three: Hartselle 43, Huntsville 39 

Marchbanks scored a game-high 24 points and had eight rebounds and six steals in Hartselle’s 43-39 win over Huntsville. 

Huntsville jumped out to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Tigers battled back to take a 23-18 lead at halftime, as Marchbanks scored 12 points in the second quarter.  

Huntsville tied the game at 27-27 following the third before Hartselle pulled away in the fourth for the victory. 

Cartee added a double-double, 12 points and 14 rebounds for Hartselle. 

Huntsville was led by Katheryn Shiner, who finished with 20 points. Hartselle held Emily Bowman, a Vanderbilt signee, to six points. 

Hartselle improved to 5-3 on the season.
