According to a post made on Facebook by the City of Hartselle, residents in the northeast area of the city on Mountainview Drive should be aware of a nonworking weather alert siren. The post said while parts have been ordered to repair it residents should take precautions during the elevated risk for thunderstorms tonight.

“The weather alert siren located on Mountainview Drive in NE Hartselle is not working,” the post read. “The parts are on order to repair the siren. However, there is a threat of storms later this evening and tonight. If you live in this area please be aware that the siren would not sound in case of a tornado warning.”

The National Weather Service in Huntsville sent out a forecast this morning about the potential weather event tonight into tomorrow morning. “A line of showers and thunderstorms moving through overnight could produce isolated wind damage or a brief, weak tornado,” the NSW said. “The Storm Prediction Center has put the Tennessee Valley under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms overnight tonight. The time frame of concern will be between midnight to 4 a.m. The primary threats will be damaging straight-line winds. An isolated, brief tornado is also possible. There are no warnings, watches or advisories at this time.
