Patriots drop region matchup against Guntersville

Brewer played a Class 5A, Region 8 matchup at Guntersville Thursday evening. The game was played in front of the lowest-attended game of the season, as Guntersville was on fall break.

Both teams entered the game with 2-2 records in region play. The winner of the game would be in an excellent position to secure a play-off spot.

It would be the home-standing Wildcats that would dominate the game and come out with a victory – Guntersville’s 603rd victory in the history of their program.

The Wildcats took a 20-0 lead into halftime and put together a scoring drive late in the game to make the final score 37-7.

Jonathan Morgan scored the lone Brewer touchdown with 33 seconds remaining in the game.

The Patriots were held to their lowest offensive output of the season, gaining 233 yards. They finished with 159 yards passing and 74 yards rushing.

Brewer (3-4, 2-3) will host East Limestone Friday night at Tucker Stadium in a region matchup.
