Angela Johnston Dormagen

Angela Johnston Dormagen, 54, of Huntsville, died Sat., Aug. 20, 2016, in Washington, DC, of complications from a recent illness. She was born April 14, 1962, in Durham, N.C., the first of three children born to Mary Nell (Weems) and Charles D. Johnston.

After the family returned to North Alabama, she attended and graduated from Brewer High School, where she played varsity basketball. She continued her athletic career at the University of North Alabama, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Management Science at the University of Alabama Huntsville and a PhD in International Business from Southern California University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and held professional certifications from the Project Management Institute and APICS. She was an Information Technology Consultant and architect. For the past two years, she had been in Washington working on contracts for the Department of State and the Department of Defense. Previously, she had contracted to several large insurance companies, as well as many other companies in a variety of industries. Her work took her to international locations such as China, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic and France, as well as many U.S. locations including Washington, DC, Louisville, Ky, Philadelphia, Penn., Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, Calif. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles D. Johnston.

She is survived by her loving husband, Andy of Huntsville; her mother, Nell; a brother, Darryl (Vickie) of Somerville; a sister, Joy (Heath) of Melbourne, Fla. She is also survived by her three poodle girls, Cookie, Cinnabun and M&M, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sun., Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville. A Memorial Celebration will follow.
