Funeral for David Goodner, 56, of Valhermoso Springs was Fri., Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James A. Bush officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Goodner died Tues., Aug. 4, 2015, at his residence. He was born Nov. 3, 1958, in Illinois, to William Andrew Goodner and Juanita Inez Dudley Goodner. He was a member of the Talucah Volunteer Fire Department and was the Department Chief from 2008-2010. He was a charter member of the department. He coached the Community League of basketball, soccer and softball for seven years. He was employed by Parker Hannifin as a machinist and retired after 33 years of service. He loved coaching ball, loved kids and his team won two state championships. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and telling stories about the past. He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Debbie Goodner of Valhermoso Springs; a daughter, Lindsey Paige Goodner (fiance’ – Wesley St. John) of Valhermoso Springs, his mother, Juanita Goodner of Hartselle; a brother, Danny Goodner of Cotaco; a sister, Debbie Long of Hartselle.

Pallbearers were Mike Moore, Chase Moore, Wesley St. John, Mike Long, Caleb Long and Bud Smith.
