Two arrested on drug and other charges

Two Morgan County residents were arrested on drug and other charges Thurs., July 23, in the Brooksville area of the county.

Morgan County Drug Task Force agents had been searching for Shannon Levoid Turner, 39, after they had purchased methamphetamine from him over the past several months. Turner had three felony distribution warrants, as well as two misdemeanors and two outstanding felony warrants for drug and traffic offences. The agents and Morgan County deputies located Turner on Highway 67 with a passenger, Miranda Valentine, 20.

Officers found open liquor bottles, one ounce of crystal methamphetamine, one ounce of marijuana and over $14,000 in cash inside the vehicle. After obtaining search warrants, the agents found a small amount of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and plastic bags used for the resale of illegal drugs at Turner’s home. Inside the vehicle, agents located two handguns, one of which was reported as stolen; iPads; cell phones; and a computer.

Turner and Valentine were arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of prohibited liquor. Both subjects were taken to the Morgan County Jail on $80,600 bonds. Turner was convicted of robbery first degree, and investigators are working to charge Turner for receiving stolen property second degree and felony in possession of a firearm.
