“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”

Wrong, words are powerful and they do hurt. Many times words can do more damage than we think.

However we find in Proverbs 25:11 where words can do much good. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”

We must make sure to use our words responsibility, to use our words for the good and encouragement for others.

On Friday evening, the heritage Sunday school of Somerville Baptist Church met at the home of Burgess and Angia Smith of Eva for their Christmas get-together. Those attending were Larry and Sharon Culp, Sherry Moore, Nathan and Javon Alldredge, Lou and Ann Heath, Lou Ann Simmons, Pete and Berta Wilson, Mark and Cam Emerson, Cecil and Judy Berry, Lewis and Cynthia Fitcher, James and Mary Holt, Nancy Morrow, Larry and Jane Swearengin and host and hostess Burgess and Angia Smith. All enjoyed a great time of food, fun and fellowship.

Many in our community and surrounding areas have lost loved ones recently. Continue to remember these families in your prayers.
