GALLERY: Danville heads to state finals

The Lady Hawks have a shot at the 4A state championship tonight at 6 p.m.

They will play Jacksonville, who they beat 3-2 in the finals of the North Super Regionals to become the No. 1 north seed in the state tournament.

Jacksonville took Danville the full five sets in the North Championship with Jacksonville winning the first and fourth sets 18-25, 20-25 and Danville winning the second, third and final sets 25-12, 25-12, 15-8.

Earlier in the state tournament, Danville defeated Straughn 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 in the quarterfinals. Sydni Shelton had 15 kills, three blocks and six digs on the match. Kellee Stiles tallied eight kills, three blocks and nine digs. Charlee Anderson had 28 assists and five aces. Jada Harris had two blocks, and Courtney Watts had seven aces.

The Lady Hawks also downed Deshler in the semifinals 25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20 to advance to the championship game. Shelton led Danville offensively with 29 kills and 16 digs. Stiles added 10 kills and 21 digs. Harris had eight kills and two blocks. Anderson racked up 46 assists, 16 digs and two aces. Watts and Mikayla Koins had three blocks apiece. Alexis Snow had 18 digs, and Regan Burcham had two aces.

The AHSAA will be live-streaming the final match at AHSAA.com. There will also be a live-scoring update option on their website.

This will be the last game head coach Spencer Cole will coach for Danville after his 13 years with the Hawks.
