'Nutcracker' comes to area
Community Ballet Association and the Huntsville Ballet Company are joining with the Huntsville Symphony for the fifth year of the Christmas classic, "The Nutcracker."Huntsville Symphony Orchestra is under the baton of Taavo Virkhaus. . In addition, the Huntsville Boy choir, under the direction of Carmelita Gandy will sing during the Snow Scene. Gary Taylor will dance the role of the SugarPlum Cavalier for all the performances of The Nutcracker Dec. 13-15.
Taylor is presently artistic director and resident choreographer for the High Point Ballet in High Point, N.C. and The Sandhills Ballet Theatre in Southern Pines, N.C.. He will be partnering Huntsville Ballet's SugarPlum Fairies Lucy Hamilton (Dec.13 at 7:30p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.), Niki Drake-Hunkapillar (Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.).
