Eight candidates are in the running for mayor and town council positions in Somerville’s municipal election, Tues., Aug. 28.

All six positions had at least one candidate through Tues., July 10.

The most recent qualifier was Carl Flemons who became a candidate for Council Place 4 on Tues., July 10.

Mayor Darren Tucker has filed for reelection and is being opposed by Rodger McClure who has served on the town council in Place 4 since 1992.

Other candidates are: Tammy Frye, Council Pace 2; Shenna Dugger, Council Place 1; Jackie Teague, Council Place 5; Chris Haynes, Council Place 5; and Michael Rea, Council Place 3.
