Three HHS golfers finish on leader board

Three members of Hartselle High School’s girls 1A-5A state championship golf team finished on the leader board in the Girls State Junior Championship at Troy Country Club.

Heather Nail finished tied for sixth place with an overall 228, 12 strokes behind of 16-18 division champion Gabi Oubre’ of Mobile. Nail was 13th on Tuesday with an opening round 82 and then climbed six places to seventh spot after her Wednesday round of 71. She moved up to sixth with a final round of 74.

Arin Eddy was tied for eighth place after her first round score of 79 on Tuesday. After an 81 Wednesday, however, she fell back to 12th place before finishing in 10th with a 79 for an overall 239.

Beth Ann Compton was in sixth place in the 14-15 division with a score of 86 on the first day and a 79 on Wednesday. She finished in a tie for fourth place with an 81 on the final day for a 246.

Compton was 15 shots behind Michaela Williams, who had a division best 73 on the final day to win by nine strokes.
