Funeral service for Juanita Allen Healy, 74, will be Thursday, September 28,
2023 at 2:00 PM at Grace Fellowship Church with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Baileyton, Alabama.
Mrs. Healy died on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at her residence.  She was
born November 28, 1948, in Marshall County, to Horace William Allen and Vera
Bertha Dye Allen.

She was a member of the Upper Cumberland Presbyterian denomination and was
an active member in her community. She was a loving mother and grandmother
and friend. She was employed as and enjoyed being a baker, prior to her
passing.

Preceding her in death were her husband Ed Healy, her parents and a
daughter, Brooke Hill.

Survivors include daughter Paige Norris (Paul); son-in-law – Rodney Hill (Julie); sister Paula Brock; five grandchildren Kayla Pankey (Alex), Peyton Keith (Jackson), Matthew
Wilson, Aiden Hill and Lily Norris.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Keith, Alex Pankey, Matthew Wilson, Aiden Hill
and Quinton Haley.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carthage Presbytery Youth Rally

TN  37022 or to Decatur-Morgan Hospital Foundation. 

Alice Estelle Rea 

Decatur 

Funeral Services for Alice Estelle Richardson Poss Rea will be on Wednesday at 12 Noon in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11AM to 12 noon. Burial will be in the Dunkin Creek Cemetery in Russellville, Alabama. 

Mrs. Rea was born to Edgar W. Richardson and Malvy Effie Landers Richardson in Franklin County, Alabama on February 12, 1929. She passed away at her Decatur residence on September 24, 2023. 

She was employed by and retired from the Decatur City School System. Mrs. Rea was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church. She loved to collect arrowheads and rocks. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking and would feed anyone who would come to visit her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband: Johnny Poss and second husband, Robert “Bob” Lee Rea, her parents and a son, James Robert Poss. She is survived by sons, John Thomas Poss and Michael Lee Rea (Glenda), daughters, Linda Dianne Baker and Brenda Gail Poss, seven Brothers, six Sisters, five Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be James Poss, Kevin Baker, Joshua Poss, Jonathan Poss, Brayden Poss and Brad Poss. 

Lavada Mae “Sue” Carter

Funeral service for Lavada Mae “Sue” Carter, 72, will be Thursday, September

Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6:00
PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carter died on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital.  She
was born January 7, 1951, in Morgan County, to William Hammond Freeman and
Margie Lurline White Freeman.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family with all
of her heart. She enjoyed the outdoors, doing yard work and her puppies.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister: Judy Freeman.  She
will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth Carter; sons Malcom Leeth; Steve Freeman and Troy Leeth; daughter Katrina Adrian; brothers Ronald Freeman, William Freeman and Wayne Freeman; eight grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

John Glen Minges
Hartselle

A Memorial Service for John Glen Minges, 74, will be Friday, September 29,

Mr. Minges passed away  on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Decatur Morgan
Hospital.  He was born November 10, 1948, in Jefferson County, to Wilbur
Glen Minges and Vada Minges.

He was married to his wife, Joetta Vest Minges, for 49 years. He was a
wonderful husband, father, woodworker and artist. Mr. Minges was a Veteran
of the United States Air Force, a member of Scottish Rite, and a member of
the Masonic Lodge 789 in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his
parents.

Survivors include his wife Joetta Vest Minges; daighters Jennifer Minges Campbell (Alan) and Sara Michelle Oubre (Michael); grandchildren John Alexander Campbell, Madeline Grace Oubre and Jacob Alexander Oubre

Donald Newman Legg  

HARTSELLE

Mr. Legg died on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1932, in Morgan County, to John Talmadge Legg and Beauford Estoria Hendrix Legg. He was employed as a Supervisor for Copeland Corporation, prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church. Mr. Legg served with the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a longtime Hartselle Softball League coach in the 70’s having coached countless girls on the Hillbillies and in Allstars. He then served as President of the League for many years. In 2008, he was inducted into the Dixie Softball Hall of Fame. He was married to the love of his life, Alvilene, and they were together for 60 years. 

Preceding him in death were his wife, Alvilene; his parents; three brothers, Carl Talmadge Legg, Ben Franklin Legg, and James Louis Legg and a sister, Geraldine Locke. 

Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Legg Gillott, Donna Legg-Battles (Guy) and Nerissa Legg Appleton (Tommy); sister, Maedrue Driver; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Legg; brother-in-law, Donald Locke; six grandchildren, Meagan Renee Welden (Barry), Noah Donald Battles (Elsa), Jared Lee Appleton (Kennady), Seth Robert Battles, Alyssa Ellen Appleton and Sarah Ellen Battles Anders (Lane); and five great-grandchildren, Dash Weldon, Hampton McBay, Talmadge Appleton, Nathaniel James Battles and Eli Appleton. 

Pallbearers will be Guy Battles, Tommy Appleton, Jaren Appleton, Barry Weldon, Lane Anders and John Mitchell. Honorary pallbearer will be Kyle Kirby. 

Linda McCulloch Eaton 

DECATUR 

Today, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, we are honoring the homecoming of Linda McCulloch Eaton, she passed away peacefully at her home in Decatur, Alabama, September 25th, 2023, after a long battle with health issues. She was born on October 20, 1948, in Morgan County, to James Alford McCulloch and Dorothy Mae Sparks McCulloch. 

Linda had a heart of gold and loved sharing that with the world. Her life’s greatest accomplishment and life’s passion was raising her three boys (Chris Sandlin, Mike Eaton, Dennis Eaton), being the world’s best grandma and being the best sister and friend to all who knew her. She was an inspiration in her willingness to cook you a hot meal, be an ear to listen to and to always be there for anyone in need. Linda’s acts of kindness, unselfishness and charity will be greatly missed. 

Preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy McCulloch; husband, Micheal Anthony Eaton; three sisters, Ann Raines, Angie McCulloch, Betty Eagle; and her beloved son, Chris Sandlin. 

We say goodbye Wednesday, September 27th at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama, with visitation from 2 until service time at 3 PM. 

Survivors include her husband, Reggie Carver; sons, Mike Eaton (Susan) and Dennis Eaton (Raina); brothers, James H. McCulloch (Glenda), Joe McCulloch (Pam) and Bruce McCulloch; sisters, Gloria Gilliam (Jim) and Glenda Oakley; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Bobby Moore
Decatur

A Graveside Memorial service for Bobby Moore, 72, will be Sunday, October 8,
2023 at 5:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery with Bro. Stanley Reeves officiating
and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is scheduled.

Mr. Moore died on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  He
was born July 17, 1951, in Morgan County, to William Bud Moore and Marvalean
Mitchell Moore.

He was employed in the Maintenance Department at Wilson Machine Shop, prior
to his retirement. He was a loving husband, father and was a very good man.
He loved anything to do with a ball.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Wayne Parker, and
sisters, Ruthie Moore Pirtle and Shelia Pollock.

Survivors include his wife Vickie Gardner Pinion; son Mickey Moore (Leslie); sister Ann Smith; two grandchildren Lucas Moore and Izabelle Moore and a host of friends. Please wear your team colors to the service.
 

Janice Swader Johnson 

SOMERVILLE 

A graveside service for Janice Swader Johnson, 78, will be Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church with Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery. 

Mrs. Johnson passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sunday, November 19, 1944, in Morgan County to Arthur O. Swader and Katherine Pauline Finnerty Swader. Janice loved her job at Chrysler Corporation all the way until retirement. She was all about her family and having family gatherings but most proud of being a Grandmother. She was a very kind and generous person and will be greatly missed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Jimmie Johnson; a daughter, Teresa Johnson and a brother, Ashley Swader. 

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Johnson (Cathy) and Jeremy Johnson (Nikki); daughter, Janna Parker (Shane); nine grandchildren, Erica Riner, Eli Parker, Kati Parker, Cole Johnson, Kallie Parker, Emma Johnson, Abby Johnson, Kyle Johnson and Chloe Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Ramey and Austin Riner. 

Pallbearers will be Eli Parker, Cole Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Nathan Bozylinski, Ed Rink and Alan Kirby. 

Barbara Bonner Smith 

Decatur 

Barbara Jane Bonner Smith, 87, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2023. 

Mrs. Smith was born on December 5, 1935, in rural Lawrence County, Tennessee to the late Willie Lake and Flora Bass Bonner. In 1954, she married her husband of 69 years, Jimmy Dean, and he survives. Together they relocated to Decatur, Alabama and began a family. Barbara joined Jimmy in the opening of Jimmy Smith Jewelers in 1973, becoming a Registered Bridal Consultant when the store expanded to include a bridal department. Barbara was highly valued and loved by many in this role, as well as in her many volunteer roles with PACT, Decatur Charity League, Decatur Christian Women’s Club, Decatur Assembly, Community Bible Study, and Hospice of the Valley. She had a generous heart, a sweet spirit, an appreciation for humor, and a listening ear to those who she was around. 

Barbara grew up in the Methodist church, was a member of Austinville Church of God in the years she was raising her family, and then became a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur in the latter years of her life. 

In addition to Jimmy, she will be missed by children Sheron “Lynn” (Daniel) Masters of West Monroe, LA, Jimmy Ray (Wendy) Smith, Rebecca “Karen” Smith Watts, and Robert “Robby” Smith all of Decatur, AL; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Masters, Bethany (Austin) Lucari, Caleb (Lauren) Masters, Abigail Masters, Nathaniel Masters, Jimmy “Tyler” (Michelle) Smith, Anna Smith (Nic) Walton, Christian (Kathryn) Smith, Charles “Brent” Watts, Jonathan (Nikki) Watts, Alexandra Smith; and 9 great-grandchildren, along with sisters Ruth Nix of Lawrenceburg, TN, Rebecca (John) Sharp of Etheridge, TN, brother Ernest “Wayne” (Charlie) Bonner of Huntsville, AL, sister in law Janice (Doug) Doggett of Cullman AL, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death are infant son John “Keith” Smith, brothers Grant, William, Vernon “Klyce”, Allison “Loye”, Floyd Thomas, and Jerry Bonner, and sister Zella Dworkin. 

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Ms. Carlin Rains and Hospice of the Valley for the loving care provided in the most recent season of Barbara’s life.  

Pallbearers are her grandsons, and honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Valley and PACT. The service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Alabama with son-in-law: Rev. Dan Masters and Rev. Alex Beaube officiating.  A private graveside service will follow. No visitation is scheduled but the family will host a celebration of life at Burningtree Country Club at 2:00 p.m. Peck Funeral Home is managing the arrangements. 

In remembrance of Barbara, Jimmy Smith Jeweler’s will be closed on Saturday for her services. 

Jason Byron Hart
Falkville

Mr. Hart died on Thursday, September 28, 2023.  He was born  September 29,
1977, in Pusan, South Korea, to Bruce Leroy Hart and Sun-I Moon Hart.

He was employed by Vision Wheel as an Analyst, prior to his passing.  He
loved cars, Mustangs in particular, and loved his job working with them. He
enjoyed working out and attended, most recently, JMK Karate among others. He
loved his two best life-long friends , Joseph McGoldrick and Robert “Randy”
Slack III.  He was a loving husband, father and son and will be missed
terribly.

Survivors include his wife April Polley Hart; parents Bruce Leroy Hart and Sun-I Moon Hart; son Jason Riley Hart; daughters Taylor Hart, Kaileigh Hart and Elliana Hart; sister Angela Garcia; Niece Laticia (Margaret) Hart; nephews Ricky Hart and T.J. Hart.
 

Mariza Vallejo Delatorre

Mrs. Delatorre passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center.  She was born August 1, 1969, in Cook County,
Illinois, to Hector Vallejo and Sanjuana Trevino Vallejo.

She was employed by the Northeast Morgan County Water and Sewer Authority as
an Office Manager and Customer Service Rep, prior to her passing.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Ana Leticia Delatorre.

Survivors include her husband Armando Delatorre; daughters Adrianna Delatorre Marsh and Elizabeth Delatorre Cook (Jacob); parents Hector Vallejo and Sanjuana Trevino Vallejo; brothers Gerardo “Jerry” Vallejo (Sara) and Jaime Vallejo (Tonya) and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Vallejo, J.J. Vallejo, Jerry Vallejo, Jaime
Vallejo, Jake Cook and Matt Jones. 

Mary Jane Harvison Brown
Decatur

Mrs. Mary Jane Brown died on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Decatur Morgan
Hospital.  She was born Sunday, July 5, 1953, in Franklin County, to JC
Harvison and Eloise Harvison.  She was a self-employed hairdresser working
at Cuts R Us, prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death by her
husband and her parents.

Survivors include granddaughter Haley Gonzalez and sister Barbara Beardslee.
