Richard Scott “Rick” Lucas

Richard Scott “Rick” Lucas died on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence.   

He was born October 5, 1956, to Charles Ray Lucas and Genive Hemwich Teet.
He was born in Queens, New York and raised in Florence, Alabama. He was a
graduate of Bradshaw High School and was an Economics major of Florence
State College. Mr. Lucas also served with the Army Rangers in the Vietnam
War, earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He lived in
Hartselle for 20 years and has worked as a General Contractor all over
Alabama.
Mr. Lucas loved his family dearly and was loved by them whole-heartedly. He
will be missed by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years Jennifer Diane Lucas, daughters Brandice McCown-Lucas,  Stephanie Young and her husband Ronald Dea Gray, Jr. and Erin Rachael Lucas “Rae Rae”; grandchildren
Cam (Christopher Allen Morgan III), River Axel Gray and Ryder Blaze Gray and beloved pet, Ellie.  

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.  

Joe Wilhite

Funeral service for Joe Wilhite, 68, will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at
11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Delbert Freeman and Bro.
David  Matthews officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be
in Roundtop Cemetery. Mr. Wilhite died on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence.  He was born July 19, 1955, in Morgan County, to Virgil Phil Wilhite and Veda Levell
McAbee.
Mr. Wilhite was married to his wife, Annie, for 48 years. He loved his wife,
his kids and his grandkids with all of his heart and enjoyed spending time
with his grandbabies. He loved Jesus and enjoyed driving his tractor. He was
employed by Nicholson File, in the production department and then years
later owned a Trucking Company: Kullman Express, prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his wife Annie Waldrop Wilhite; son Jackie Wilhite; daughter Amanda Wilhite Tucker (Gabe Tucker); brother Virgil Wilhite; sisters Brenda Ball, Debbie Hackler and Gayle Vogel; eight grandchildren Desiree Wilhite, Camille Gibbs, Giselle Gibbs, Hudson
Wilhite, Sage Wilhite, Milly Tucker, Kameryn Tucker and Heidi Tucker; one great grandchild- Ealyn Wilhite.  

Hudson Wilhite, Chris Ball, John Shaddrix, J.D. Landers, Anthony Hendrix and
Garrett Ball will be pallbearers.
 

John Richard Johnston

Decatur

Funeral service for John Richard Johnston, 75, will be Friday, September 1,
2023 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter
officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Crestview
Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.  Visitation will be Friday, September 1,
2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnston died on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his residence.  He was born
March 30, 1948, in Cobb County,  to Luther Virgil Johnston and Lillian
Maxwell Holmes Johnston.

Mr. Johnston passed away peacefully at home and entered into eternal healing
after a brief battle with cancer. Richard enjoyed a full career as an
electrical engineer. In retirement, he enjoyed playing the piano and violin
and using his HAM radio.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Luther and Lillian Johnston, an
infant child and his daughter: Sarah Catherin Johnston Roy.

Survivors include his Wife of 50 years Marilyn Allen Johnston; son Stephen Johnston (Christin); daughters Sharon Freudenthal (John) and Sandy Doherty (Daniel); son-in-law Colin Roy; eight grandchildren.
 

Ann Davenport 

 Hartselle 

Funeral service for Ann Davenport, 63, of Hartselle, will be Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. The burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Davenport died on Friday, August 31. She was born May 20, 1960, in Morgan County to Robert L. McDonald and Lillian Fay Ledlow McDonald. Mrs. Davenport previously worked as a purchasing manager for R and D Electronics. She was preceded in death by her father. 

Survivors Include her husband, Gordon Davenport; one son Nate Davenport (April); one daughter 

Lindsey Harris (Michael); mother Faye McDonald; two sisters Judy McDonald and Kay Fayard (George); three grandchildren Anna Claire Dukeminier, Lennon Davenport and Baylor Harris; father and mother-in-law Buford and Mary Glaze.  

 Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

Robert “Bobby” Ray Beavers 

Funeral service for Robert “Bobby” Ray Beavers, 89, will be Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dewayne Harper and Bro. Steve Barber officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.  

 Mr. Beavers died on Friday, September 1, 2023, at his residence.  He was born Tuesday, October 3, 1933, in Morgan County to Cedric Delo Beavers and Amy Oden Beavers. He retired from NASA as an Engineer Technician. 

 Mr. Beavers was a member of Oden Ridge Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge at Simcoe. He was a founding member of the Oden Ridge Volunteer Fire Department in 1973 and volunteered until 2012 when his health would not allow him to participate. Bobby loved his tractors and farming. He was known for his ability to pull pranks on people. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved ice cream. Bobby was a good handyman and enjoyed fixing things. Mr. Beavers was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerry Neal Beavers. 

 Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patsy Holcomb Beavers; sons David Ray Beavers (Meiying) 

and Timothy Shane Beavers (Stacy); daughters Jennifer Ann Beavers Hill (Tony) and Vicki Nichole Beavers Hilliard (Brad); grandchildren Amie Lin Beavers, Julie Elizabeth Beavers, Cedric Delane Beavers, Jessica Linan Hill and Isabella Grace Hilliard.  

 Pallbearers will be David Beavers, Tim Beavers, Tony Hill, Brad Hilliard, Jeff Thompson and Cedric Beavers.
