For over 20 years, he dutifully served on the Hartselle Cemetery Board and played a pivotal role in the establishment and management of Regions Bank of Hartselle.

Within the congregation of First Baptist Church, Charles was a shining example of faith and service. His selflessness knew no bounds, and he always found ways to assist those in need, embodying the true spirit of a servant.

Charles Jackson Quinn was a family man through and through. He cherished his 66-year marriage to his loving wife, Mary Quinn, and was a caring father to his children: Kent Quinn (Teresa), Beth Brown (Tom), Beverly Moore, and Leigh Moseman (David). David Harold LaChance
Decatur

Funeral service for David Harold LaChance, 78, was Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Mahlon LeCroix and Bro. Chuck Bass officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. David H. LaChance, 78, beloved husband of Ann (Miller) LaChance, passed away on July 23, 2023, at his home in Priceville. He was born in Caribou, Maine on April 9, 1945, the son of Numa and Neta (Drost) LaChance.

David came to Addison, Alabama in 1965 to visit his sister Beverly and her husband. They took him to church where he met his lifelong sweetheart.  David was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served two honorable years before marrying Charlsie Ann Miller on December 22, 1967. David is survived by his wife Ann (Miller) Lachance of Priceville, one daughter, Jennifer LaChance Henry (Brian) of Decatur, one daughter-in-law Tracy Ann LaChance, four grandsons Michael Wyatt, Austin LaChance, Aiden LaChance of Millbrook and J.D. Henry of Decatur. Two granddaughters, Elizabeth Wyatt Mosely (Curk) of Greenville, Aubrey Henry of Decatur and one great grandson, Wyatt Mosley of Greenville.   Two brothers, Frederick LaChance of Penrose, Colorado, Gary LaChance (Gilda) of Lincoln, Maine.  Three sisters, Beverly Privett (Teddy) of Addison, Judy Bannon of East Haven, Connecticut and Nancy (Danny) of Bangor, Maine.
David is preceded in death by his son, Jason LaChance, of Millbrook, and his parents Numa and Neta LaChance of Oakfield, Maine. David grew up in Caribou, Maine in Aroostook County. David and Ann lived in Decatur where he worked at Amoco Chemicals for 32 years.  When they were expecting their first child David and Ann bought some land in Priceville and built a home where they lived for 50 years.  They joined Shoal Creek Baptist where they attended since 1973.

David loved woodworking and he loved making things for his family, friends and the church.  Ann taught the sixth grade at Priceville Junior High and anything she needed for her classroom he made it for her.
David was a great humble man with a heart of gold.  Throughout David and Ann’s 55-year marriage he made sure Ann had everything she could ever want or need.  He took care of everything around the house from changing light bulbs to building an apartment with all the bells and whistles above the garage to help care for his aging mother.  He was one of a kind.

David’s long-time friend, Frank Hays taught him to play golf which became a great passion of David’s through the years.  David and Frank played golf every chance they got. David and Ann loved to travel. They traveled back to Caribou and Mattawaski Lake in Maine every summer where his family had a camp which David helped to build in his youth.
David and Ann traveled to all 50 states. They took their two oldest grandsons with them on a lot of their travels. They loved to spend time with family in Orange Beach, Smokey Mountains and camping trips to Guntersville. David was a good Christian man and was asked to be a deacon several times at Shoal Creek but never felt he was “good enough.”  Although David was not a deacon, he was always willing to help in any way he could at the church.  David gave his heart and life to the Lord in 1966 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Addison.  He always said that was the greatest thing that had ever happened to him after coming to Alabama.  Second was family and the love of his life, Ann.

After David’s cancer surgeries, he always said he was ready whenever the Lord was going to take him.  He also said he was ready to see his son, Jason, again who passed away from metastasized melanoma skin cancer in 2021. David had dementia the last three years of his life.  It gradually had gotten worse, and he could not be left alone.  Some of the men and women that you see as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers came and stayed with him so Ann could continue working with the church sewing group and keep doctor’s appointments.  They include Rex Bennich, Perry Jeffers, Tommy Caver, Bobby Dayette, John Easley and Glenn McDaniel.  Honorary Pall Bearers are Wayne Dunkin, Frank Hays, Leonard Woodby and Betty Hogan who made sure to keep his beard and nails in order. The family will always be thankful to these friends and church members. A special thanks also goes to Scherrie Turner for arranging the home care schedules each week, to the ladies in the church who made sure we ate good by bringing food three nights a week for three months straight and to so many others who helped and prayed for David and his family.
