Bobbie Lou Bates

Funeral service for Bobbie Lou Bates, 83, was held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at
1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Bradford officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Bates died, Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Summerford Nursing Home. She
was born April 30, 1940, in Cullman County, to Robert Hale and Lula Mae
Fogg Hale. She was a homemaker for her family, who she loved dearly, was a big Alabama
fan, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing and quilting. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clyde J. Bates; her parents; brothers, Arnelus Hale and Duff Hale, and sisters, Mae Attrice Hardin and Mary Lee Clemons. Survivors include sons, Joestus Bates (Amy) and Billy Ray Bates (Teresa);
daughters, Nellie Jenkins (JR) and Brenda Davis (Michael); brothers, Thomas Hale (Patsy) and Arthur Hale (Joyce); six grandchildren; six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Travis Kent, Daniel Starr, Brad Slate, Jason Marbut, Michael Davis, Gary Stinnett and JR Jenkins. 

 

James D. Garrison
Hartselle
Funeral service for James D. Garrison, 78, was held Friday, June 16, 2023, at
3 p.m.at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Corey Morrow officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Garrison died Sunday, June 11, 2023 at his residence. He was born
December 16, 1944, in Morgan County to Jim Garrison and Perlin Bolling
Garrison. He was employed by Excellance Heating and Cooling, prior to his retirement.
He loved going to church, where he was a caretaker and deacon at Calvary
Holiness Church. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He
thought the world of his grandbabies and great grandbabies. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Gilbert Garrison and Tommy Garrison and sisters, Jewel Miller and Birdy Dean Garrison. Survivors include son, Paul Haygood; daughter, Teresa Hensley (Barry); sisters, Martha Lorene Cagle and Ann McClain; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends. 

 

Seldon J. Digman

A graveside service and interment for Seldon J. Digman, 85, was held
Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Cook Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home
Directing. Mr. Digman died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Cullman Regional Medical
Center. He was born March 17, 1938, to Selden Glen Digman and Bertha Arwilla
Allen Digman in Salem, West Virginia. He was very loved and a generous man that loved his family. Mr. Digman was a welder and a machinist most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jeanette Stinson Digman; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Petty; a son, Glen Harvey Digman; and his sister, Nancy. Survivors include son, Johnathan Digman (Michelle; two sisters, Barbara Fox and Savanah Collmar; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. 

 

Ronnie Maxwell

Ronnie Maxwell, 74, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Decatur Morgan
Hospital. He was born July 29, 1948, in Morgan County, to Charles Delver
Maxwell and Helen Isol Puckett Maxwell. He was employed at Redstone Arsenal in general construction, prior to his retirement. He liked fishing, working on cars, music, eating out and really enjoyed making people laugh and visiting with family and friends. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Maxwell, his parents, a sister, Lydia
Maxwell James and a brother, Derrick Maxwell. Survivors include daughter, Angie Blevins (Keith); brother, Jamie Maxwell (Mary); sister, Debbie Nungester; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild. No services were scheduled at this time.

Marie Burks Harmon

Marie Burks Harmon Lois Marie Burks Harmon, formerly of Hartselle and Arab,
passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023, in Huntsville at the home of her son
and daughter-in-law at the age of 95. Marie was born April 12, 1928, to Herman and Myrtle Hodgens and grew up in Grant, Ala. where she graduated from DAR High School. Marie was married to Rayford Henry Burks for 53 years until his death in 1999. Marie later
married Darell Boyd Harmon. They were travel companions, bridge enthusiasts,
and made each other very happy in their later years. Marie was a homemaker,
wonderful cook, master gardener, an amazing bridge player and lover of
antiques. She owned an antique shop in Hartselle for many years and loved to
restore historic homes. She was a longtime member of the Hartselle First
United Methodist Church and later attended Arab First United Methodist
Church. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Darell Harmon.
Marie is survived by her son, John Henry Burks (Alana) of Huntsville;
granddaughter, Abigail Marie Jacobs (Preston) of Cherokee Ridge, Ala.;
great-granddaughter, Lily Paige Jacobs, and sister-in-law, Judy Burks Barnes
(Colin) of Grant, Ala. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Laurie Harmon
Grauel (Sean) of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and Michael Harmon (Melany) of
Montevallo, Ala.; along with grandsons, Micah, Jonah, Tobin, and Levi Grauel
and Kaiser Harmon. A graveside service was held at Burningtree Memorial Gardens
on Monday, June 19, 2023, with Chaplain Anthony Ford officiating and Peck
Funeral Home directing. No visitation was scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntsville Hospital Foundation Hospice Family Care.  Condolences can be sent to 103 Calhoun Street NE, Huntsville, AL 35801. 

 

Kyndall Marie Owens

Funeral service for Kyndall Marie Owens, 15, was held Saturday, June 17, 2023,
at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Kirby officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in Falkville City Cemetery.
Miss Owens died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at her residence. She was born
September 10, 2007, in Morgan County to Joshua Nathaniel Owens and
Christina Lee Harris Owens. Kyndall was a student of the Hartselle City School System. She was a loving daughter and sister. She enjoyed the outdoors, cheerleading,
horses, music and socializing with her friends. She will be missed by those
who knew and loved her. Survivors include parents, Josh Owens and Christina Harris Owens; brother, Hunter Owens; sister, Madilynn Owens. Pallbearers were Steve Nguyen, Hayden Nguyen, Chris Harris, Cory Owens, Hunter Owens and Gage Belisky. Honorary pallbearers were Jennifer Nguyen and Sean Kelley.  

 

Paul Prince

A graveside funeral service and interment for Paul Prince, 94, was held
Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Bro.
Equator Black officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Prince died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his residence.  He was born April 1, 1929, in Morgan County, to Herman Cradford Prince and Sarah Cornelia Terrell Prince. Mr. Prince was a farmer all of his life, as long as his health permitted. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Preceding him in death were his first wife: Betty Jane Stewart Prince, his parents, son, Charlie Prince; daughters, Carolyn Prince and Mary Paul Prince Hendry; granddaughter, Katie Carroll; brothers, Clyde and John Prince and a sister, Mable Starkey. The Prince family would like to extend a special thanks to the caretakers, hospice nurses and all those who helped in taking care of his animals
(Terry, Jean, Dale and Chris.) Survivors include wife – Betty Prince; stepson, Mike Garner;
daughters, Anne Walker and Becky Tankersley (Joe Ed); stepdaughter, Sherry Garner Robinson (Kevin); nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terry McKelvey, Chris Glascock, John David Blackwood and
Dale Burch. Honorary pallbearer was George McDonald. 

 

Terry Dale Lovelady
Decatur
A visitation for Terry Dale Lovelady, 43, was held Monday, June 19, 2023,
from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Mr. Lovelady died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his residence.  He was born July 13, 1979, in Cullman County, to Ernest Lee Lovelady and Brenda Lois Widner Lovelady. He was employed as a mechanic for Walmart in Madison, prior to his
passing. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother: Ronald Lovelady. Gone but not forgotten. Survivors include
sons, Kenneth Lee Dale Lovelady and Dylan Matthew Wayne Lovelady; sisters, Sabrina Lovelady Hendrix and Sinda Renia Clay; two grandchildren, Kristopher William Blaze Lovelady and Aniyah Gracelyn Lovelady; girlfriend, Deonna Jade Landers.  

 

 

Tommy Crawford

Graveside service for Tommy Crawford, 73 of Falkville was Sunday June 18, 2023, at Piney Grove Cemetery with Bro. Cody Landis officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Crawford was born September 26, 1949, in Morgan County to George Edward Crawford and Zenobia Clark Crawford. He passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his residence. Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Crawford; four brothers, James Crawford, George Crawford, Clark Crawford and Clyde Crawford. He retired from General Motors after 20 years. Survivors include son, Thomas Edward Crawford; two daughters, Sandra Kay Bowen and Samantha Odell; two brothers, David Crawford and Billy Crawford; two sisters, Christine Tidwell and Mary Walker; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  

 

 

Shirley Jean Tillmon (Hawk) 

Hartselle 

Shirley Jean Tillmon (Hawk) was born April 1,1944. She went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 16, 2023, joining her husband, Lawrence W. Tillmon a mere one year and five days after the Lord called him home. Shirley was 79 years old. She passed away peacefully at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Ala. having lived the last four years in Hartselle, Alabama.  Shirley and Larry moved to Hartselle from Cookeville, Tenn. in 2019 to be closer to family due to declining health.  Shirley was born in Greenbrier, Mo. to Oma and Konley Hawk and is one of nine children. Shirley loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Shirley worked outside the home for over 50 years. She was a factory production worker, a beautician, gifted quilter, and, finally, a demonstrator for Sam’s Club retiring in 2016 due to her health. Shirley leaves a legacy of hard work, faith and love to her family. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Oma and Konley Hawk, her husband, Lawrence Tillmon, and three siblings Thelbert Hawk. Delbert Hawk, and Anna Hawk. Shirley is survived by six siblings, Mary Jackman (Joe), Betty Peterson, Janis Robins (David), Sharon Whittley (Gerry), Jim Hawk; seven children, Michelle Jo Blaylock (John) of Hartselle, Alabama; Lee Tillmon of Jacksonville, Florida; Sherry Louise Lang (Mark) of Dexter, Missouri; Tina Marie Smith (Cean) of Stafford, Missouri; Robert Welsey Tillmon (Shirley) of Sturgis, Michigan; Joshua Lawrence Tillmon (Renee) of Burr Oak, Michigan, and Michael Walter Tillmon (Frednica) Washington, D.C. Shirley also counts as her blessings fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, visitation at 9:30 a.m., funeral at 11 a.m., interment immediately following at Essex Cemetery in Essex, Mo.  

  

Virginia Ann Aldridge

Funeral Service for Virginia Aldridge was held Monday, June 19, 2023, at
3 p.m. in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home. The burial was held at Caddo Cemetery in Lawrence
County. Ms. Virginia Aldridge passed away Thursday, June 14, 2023, at her
residence. She was born to John and Lucille Decatur Aldridge February 25,
1962 in Morgan County, Al. She was a manager at J & J Oil prior to her
retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Campbell. Virginia loved her little dogs and her grandchildren. She is survived by her boyfriend, Gary Rice of Somerville;
a son John Suggs, of Flint; two daughters, Heather Suggs of Hartselle and Christle Pruitt of Falkville; brother, Earnest Aldridge; sister, Mary Jacob and ten grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends 

 

Joel Holmes

The funeral service for Mr. Joel Holmes was held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at
1 p.m. in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home with the visitation being held
Monday June 19, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. Committal was held at Union
Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Eva. Dr. Byron Brown and Brother Randy
Sellers did the officiating. Mr. Holmes passed away at the age of 61
Thursday, June 15, 2023. He was born to Eugene and Averine Childers Holmes
on March 25, 1962, in Cullman County. Joel retired as a journeyman machinist
from United Space Boosters in Huntsville and returned to his love of
farming. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. Joel is preceded in
death by his parents; his brother, Charles Holmes; his sisters, Jean Grimes
and Teresa Higdon; his niece, Erica Holmes; his first wife, Pam Frost Holmes
and his grandparents. He is survived by his loving family. His wife of 31 years, Melvie Taylor Holmes; son, Grant Logan Holmes; daughter-in-law Katie Tyree Holmes
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends.
Pallbearers were Grant Holmes, Jeff Easter, Nathan Holmes, Stanley Hall,
Jeff Frost, George Frost, Steve Childers, Chad Brown, Shannon Brown and
Michael Saint. Honorary pallbearer was William Tucker. 

 

B.W. McIntosh 
Somerville 
Mr. Billy Wayne McIntosh, 74, died, Thursday, June 15, 2023, at his
residence. He was born October 13, 1948, in Tennessee, to Billy Wayne
McIntosh, Sr. and Shirley McIntosh. He was a United States Navy Veteran
serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, deer hunting,
loved his little dog, Chloe, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda Sue McIntosh.
Survivors include sons, Martin W. McIntosh and Matthew S. McIntosh;
sister, Sandra McIntosh Love; five grandchildren, No services were scheduled at this time.
