Funeral for O.B. Owens, 74, of Hartselle was Mon., June 17, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Church of God in Falkville with Dr. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

There was a private burial.

Mr. Owens died Fri., June 14, 2013. He was born to Otto Willie Owens and Bertha Terry Owens on Jan. 14, 1938, in Lawrence County. He was a retired football coach, principal and educator. He was currently serving on the Joe Wheeler EMC Board. Mr. Owens was also a businessman, in partnership with Pig Stand BBQ in Hartselle. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Masterson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Prince Owens of Hartselle; a daughter, Jonna Owens-Lee of Hartselle; two sisters, Barbara Cherilla of Auburn and Brenda Mutchler of Hatton; a grandchild, Macy Beth-Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jim Grissom, Teddy Owens, Bob Prince, Wally Pickett, T. C. Cole, Charlie Gover, Greg George and Brian Willis.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Wheeler EMC Board members, former football players and students.
