Sparkman Civic Center will host Martin Delray for a concert Sat., May 18, at 6:30 p.m.

Jeff Whitlow and the Old Barn Band will open the show for Martin Delray. They have put together a “George Jones Tribute” to include in their performance.

Martin Delray is a noted country music artist most well-known for his cover of Johnny Cash’s “Get Rhythm.” Cash sang guest vocals and appeared in the music video for this highest-charting single for Delray. It landed at 27 on the country charts in 1991.

Martin Delray credits his earlier shows in the Hartselle area to Carol Lynn of 105.7 WQAH, who brought her own personal music to play on the country radio station she hosted. The first time she played Martin Delray’s “Lillie’s White Lies” on the air many years ago, people started calling the station wanting to hear more.

Martin Delray says he is looking forward to returning to Hartselle.

“It’s always fun to come back to Hartselle,” he said. “It’s like going home. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I can’t wait to get back in the Civic Center.”
