James ‘J.E.’ St. John

Funeral for James “J.E.” St. John, 77, of Decatur was Sat., April 13, at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Smothers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Bishop Family Cemetery.

Mr. St. John died Wed., April 10, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born July 26, 1935, in Morgan County to Bryan St. John and Alice Wray St. John. Mr. St. John was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from Wolverine Tube where he was a crane operator for 34 years. He graduated from Cotaco High School in 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Gene St. John; and a sister, Martha Ann Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce St. John of Decatur; three sons, Eddie St. John of Decatur, Tommy St. John and Greg St. John and wife Jenny, both of Priceville; a brother, Edward St. John and wife Letha of Priceville; a sister, Sue Stanley and husband Gordon of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Wesley St. John, Abby St. John and Amanda St. John, all of Priceville and Kristen Smith of Clements.

His grandchildren were his most precious gifts from God and he treasured

them dearly. “Pop” we love you and you will be missed.”

Pallbearers will be sons, Eddie St. John, Tommy St. John, Greg St. John; grandson, Wesley St. John; nephews, Eddie St. John and Hugh Stanley; and family friend, Jeff Clark.
