Hartselle reaches semifinals

Hartselle American advanced to the semifinals of the district tournament in Ozone 11-12 with a 9-2 victory over Athens American Monday night at Sparkman Park.
Hartselle American was scheduled to face Morgan County West Tuesday in a semifinal matchup.
The other semifinal matched Decatur American and Athens American.
The championship game was scheduled for Wednesday night.
Hartselle National was eliminated from the tournament with a 6-4 loss to Decatur American.
Hartselle American 16, Hartselle National 0
Connor Shelton and Tanner Oakes both had two hits each in Hartselle American’s 16-0 win over Hartselle National.
Tom Chapman and Alston Howard both doubled in the win, while Dakota Fowler added a single.
Zac Pershin had a single for Hartselle National, who needs two wins to reach the championship series.
Zac Hamett, Brady Wallace and Tillman Landers combined for the win.
Hartselle National 7, Decatur National 6
Hartselle National scored three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to edge Decatur National 7-6 Friday.
Trey Jones doubled in the Hartselle sixth inning, while Riley Wiggins, Curtis Russell and Mitchell Warren each added a single.
Decatur National scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead, but the lead was cut to just one run when Hartselle scored twice in the bottom half of the inning.
Hartselle American 10, Morgan County National East 0
Dakota Youngblood went 3-for-3 with a 3-run homer to lead Hartselle American to a 10-0 win over Morgan County National East in the opening game of the district tournament at Sparkman Park Friday.
Tanner Oakes also had three hits for the Hartselle team, while Connor Shelton had two singles. Dakota Fowler added a double, and Jorden Robinson, Brady Wallace, Tillman Landers, Adam Keenum and Tom Chapman all added singles.
John David Chaffin had Morgan County’s only hit.
Oakes singled to drive in Shelton in the bottom of the first inning. After Landers followed with a single, Youngblood hit a shot over the fence in centerfield to give Hartselle American a 4-0 cushion.
Wallace had a bases-loaded single to spark Hartselle’s three-run third inning.
Hartselle National 17, Morgan American West 3
Conner McKee and Taylor Easterling had triples for Hartselle on Friday, and for Morgan American West, Jackson Wigginton had a double.
Dixie 14 sub-district
Hartselle 14 beat Decatur American 2-0 Saturday to force a third game in the sub-district championship series.
The deciding game of the series was played Tuesday night.
