A private graveside service for Jean Griffin Barnett, 81, of Hartselle will be Saturday, May 12, at Hartselle Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
A family visitation will be Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barnett died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at UT Southwest-St. Thomas Hospital in Dallas, Tex. She was born May 29, 1925, in Harlan County, Ky. to George B. Griffin and Lillie Morgan Griffin.
She was a long-time resident of Hartselle. After raising her three sons, she went back to school, attending Calhoun Community College and graduating from Athens State University in 1978. She was employed at the North Alabama Regional Hospital in Decatur until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Barnett, and a son, Jon Lee Barnett.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Barnett and wife Pam of Atlanta, Ga. and Richard Barnett and wife Nancy of Plano, Tex.; and five grandchildren, William, Matthew and wife Anna, Michael, Lisa and David.
