Funeral for Dolly Walter Burleson, 88, formerly of Hartselle and Morgan County will be Thursday (today), March 22, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Blackman officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Burleson died Sunday, March 18, 2007, in Tampa, Fla. She was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Union Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Phillip Walter and Lula Ellen Walter, her husband, Spencer Adair Burleson, two sisters, Lola Mae Thomas and Marynelle Penn, three brothers, Fred Walter, Frank Walter and Bill Walter and a grandson, Bryant Burleson.
She lived in Hartselle for a number of years, working as a lab technician at what is now Hartselle Medical Center, before moving to Monroeville, where she resided for the past 30 years. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and for her strength in the face of adversity.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Andrew of St. Simons Island, Ga. and Mary Carithers and husband Ken of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Jon Burleson and wife Paulette of Scottsboro and Emory Burleson and wife Mary of Staunton, Va; nine grandchildren, Tammy Dailey and husband Harry, Julie Tharpe, Jennifer Braswell and husband Dennis, Ben Carithers, Jonathan Burleson and wife Kate, Justin Burleson, Joshua Burleson and wife Natalie, Todd Burleson and Elizabeth Burleson; four great-grandchildren; four nieces; and five nephews.
