Hartselle’s airport will soon be home to a new hangar.
The city is finalizing an agreement with Decatur businessman Roger Minor to construct the hangar. It will be used to house Minor’s small jet plane.
Under the terms of the agreement, Minor will pay for the construction of the hangar and pay the city $600 a year for rent. The lease is for 30 years.
Minor will pay for utilities, repairs and insurance on the hangar.
In other city council business:
Underwriting manager Doranne Newton said the 15 percent increase is due to the numerous property claims AMIC has paid throughout the state.
Newton attributed the 3 percent increase to the number of claims filed by the city.
The board also asked for money to complete repairs but city leaders haven’t committed funds to the project.
The Hartselle City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Dec. 19 at 8:30 a.m. with no work session.
The Central Business District Design Review Board will meet Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.
The Board of Zoning Adjustment will meet Jan. 8 at 6 p.m.
The Planning Commission will meet Jan. 9 at 8 a.m. and the Technical Review Committee will meet Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
