Mrs. Parker died Mon., Feb. 13, 2012, after a brief illness. She was married to the late Sherman Wallace for 56 years. She was a long-time member of Moss Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She worked as a substitute teacher and was employed for many years at Hartselle Doctor’s Clinic. As an avid cook, she was especially known for her breads and desserts. She loved flowers and the outdoors and mowed her own grass until a few months before her death. She spent precious family time on yearly trips to the beach and mountains. She was a strong southern lady who had a special talent of welcoming everyone into her home.
She is survived by a son, David Wallace and wife Beth; a sister, Margaret Weaver; two grandchildren, Susan Hanson and husband Steven and Amy Tew and husband Charles; four great-grandchildren, Chad, Emma, Mollie and Becca, all of Birmingham; a niece, Judy Praytor and husband Mike; two nephews, Joe Weaver and James Weaver and wife Nancy; a special grand-niece and other grant-nieces and grand-nephews, Jo Lauren Weaver; and a number of wonderful friends, including her neighbor, Peggy Spiegel.
Pallbearers will be Steve Hanson, Joe Weaver, James Weaver, Mike Praytor, Scott Praytor and Matt Praytor.
The family is extremely grateful for the loving care of Comfort Hospice and Susan Brooks, RN.
