Smith, Brewer exchange vows
Rachel Lauren Smith of Decatur and Larry Dwight Brewer II of Hartselle were wed Saturday July 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. at First Independent Methodist Church of Decatur with the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks and the Rev. Ed Richey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Carla Smith of Decatur. The groom is the son of Larry and Judy Brewer of Hartselle.
The church and altar were decorated with live ferns, white silk wedding flowers with greenery, and embellished latticework.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin, princess style gown with Austrian crystal beading on the bodice.
Her headpiece featured a tea length veil held by a crystal beaded tiara. She carried a bouquet of deep pink silk flowers, baby's breath and Lily of the Valley.
Sara Richey of Decatur was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Rebekah Smith of Decatur, sister of the bride, Carrie Godbold of Pearl, Miss., Robyn Dietz of Decatur, and Kristy Culberson of Hartselle.
Junior bridal attendants were Mary Brewer Travers of Decatur, sister of the groom, and Amy Smith of Montevallo and Abby Smith of Nashville, Tenn., cousins of the bride.
Bridal attendants wore floor length gowns of navy satin trimmed in pewter and carried long stemmed, deep pink roses with baby's breath.
Courtney Jones of Hartselle and Caroline Porterfield of Birmingham were flower girls.
The groom's father was best man.
Groomsmen were Eric Cleveland of Montgomery, Michael Hofer of Decatur, Eric Salls of Auburn, Ben Culberson of Hartselle, and Jon Travers of Decatur, brother-in-law of the groom.
Junior groomsmen were Alan Smith of Montevallo and Daniel Sutton of Meridianville.
Music was provided by soloist Kristen Hofer of Decatur and harpist Susan Sims, who also played the hammer dulcimer.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall.
The bride's table featured a three-tier wedding cake separated by columns and decorated with live roses and baby's breath.
The groom's table featured a chocolate double-ring cake and chocolate dipped strawberries. The table had a Dilbert theme and a slideshow projection of the couple was shown.
Bonita Smith was wedding director.
Linda Wilson, Gladys Rees, April Blaylock, Tracey Riggs, and many of the church youth assisted with the reception.
Jennifer Owens of Hartselle attended the bride's book.
Laura May Sivley of Decatur was program attendant.
The couple honeymooned at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. They will reside in Hartselle.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents was held at First Independent Methodist Church and catered by Pig Stand of Hartselle.
The couple was honored with several prenuptial events, including miscellaneous bridal showers hosted by West End United Methodist Church of Hartselle and First Independent Methodist Church of Decatur, a Pampered Chef shower, a groom's tool and gadget shower, and a bridal shower hosted by the Cedar Cove community.
Neal, Weaver to wed Aug. 21
Mitch and Cindy Jackson of Danville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindy Neal, to Steven Weaver, son of Steve and Deanise Weaver of Falkville.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Falkville High School. She is employed by Falkville Healthcare Center. She is the granddaughter of Mary Bumpus of Decatur and George and Joyce Moore of Danville.
The groom-elect is a 1997 graduate of Falkville High School.
He is employed by Thompson Tractor. He is the grandson of John and Bernice Glover of Cullman and the late Millard and Jannette Williams.
The wedding will be held Aug. 21 in Gulf Shores.
