Funeral for James W. "Jimmy" Hughes, 60, of Decatur was Saturday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie McDonald officiating.
Mr. Hughes died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Decatur to Dewey Hughes and Grace Downs Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Todd Karr.
He is survived by two sons, Jamie Hughes of Holgate, Ohio and Howard Hughes of Hartselle; three brothers, Buster Hughes of Somerville, Wayne Hughes of Decatur and Dewey Lee Hughes of Hartselle; four sisters, Lola "Mutt" Ogle, Janet Mitchell, Melody Tippett and Joy Gamble, all of Decatur; his stepmother, Lillian Hughes of Decatur; one stepson, Kenneth Melson of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Jeanette "Sissy" Terry of Hatton; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were David Terry, Robert Hooper, Randell Carter, Mark Foster, Evon Storie and Gary Brown.
