Hartselle’s Carlos Elliott to be inducted into Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame

Hartselle native Carlos Elliott will be inducted into the Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame as part of the 2023 class. He will be joined by Mike Hutchinson, Phillip Jones, Griffin Coleman, Willie “the Worm” Monroe, Janks Morton, Dr. Ron Moon, Patsy and WL Kennedy.

Elliott, who graduated from Hartselle in 1980, was a former no. 1 contender in the World Boxing Association. He was also the middleweight champion of the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation and the Jap Boxing Commission.

Elliott, who last fought in 1991, now lives in Aomori, Japan, where he owns Elliott Boxing Gym.

He finished 26-3 with 22 knockouts in his career as a professional.

The 2023 Hall of Fame class induction will be held Feb. 11 at the Venue at Cossa Landing in Gadsden.
