It has been two years since Camp ARTselle has been held because of the COVID-19 pandemic – but the fine arts camp that benefits the arts in Hartselle is slated to return June 13-16 at Hartselle High School.

The camp will benefit the high school chorus, drama department, art department and the Hartselle Tiger Paws.

Jenny Faulk is one of the directors of Camp ARTselle, along with music director Kate Dupuis, drama director Lisa King and art director Marianthe Snyder. Faulk also directs the final performance on Thursday evening of the camp and has participated in Camp ARTselle since 2011.

“We are thrilled to be back,” Faulk said. “I am so thankful that we are having camp again this year. This camp has always been one of my favorite weeks of the year. It is wonderful to watch the campers learn they are all artists, in some way or another.”

During camp, participants get to explore art, dance, drama and music.

“They also get to specialize in one of the arts in a master class at the end of each day. Each camper will complete art projects, learn music selections and dance routines, and participate in drama activities including performances and improv games.

“At the end of the week, we have a final performance where all campers have the chance to showcase their talents,” Faulk added.

The music, dances, skits and art will all have a beach theme this year.

“The final performance will transport the audience to the beach. The show will include fun skits along with great music and dancing that will have you tapping your toes and singing along,” Faulk said. Registration is open for students entering first through sixth grades for the upcoming school year. The registration deadline is June 10.
