Volleyball Recap: Danville volleyball picks up eight wins

The 3A No. 4 Lady Hawks have improved to 26-13, going 8-1 this past week. 

Danville opened the week with wins over Fairview and Holly Pond Monday. They went on to sweep Vinemont 3-0 in an area matchup Tuesday. 

The Lady Hawks traveled to Killen Saturday for the Brooks Invitational. They picked up pool play victories over Curry, 1A No. 6 Covenant Christian and 2A No. 6 Lexington before advancing to the gold bracket. 

In bracket play, the Lady Hawks defeated 4A No. 7 Jacksonville and Muscle Shoals before falling to 1A No. 4 Loretto, Tenn. 

Faith Parker led the Lady Hawks with 77 kills and 49 digs during the week. She also recorded her 1,000th career kill. Audrey Marshall added 62 digs and 53 kills. 

In other action, Priceville went 3-3 this past week to improve to 14-11 and 3-0 in area play. 

To start the week, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Westminster Christian in area play 3-2 (11-25, 25-21, 25-21, 12-25, 15-4). They also defeated Fort Payne 2-0 and Decatur 2-0.  

However, they dropped matches to East Limestone, West Morgan and Brooks. 

Zoey Benson finished the week with 27 kills, 33 digs and nine aces. Katelyn Falciani had 32 kills and 10 digs. 

In other county volleyball action, Falkville finished the week 2-1 with 3-0 sweeps of Lee and Whitesburg Christian before being swept by Athens Bible. Brewer picked up wins over Austin (3-2) and Fairview (3-0) before dropping matches to West Morgan, Madison Academy and Lawrence County.
